MISSION STATEMENT The mission of C. A.Lewis, Inc. is to maintain integrity and promote innovation in providing our clients complete construction services. INTRODUCTION
Today the company operates under two divisions. The industrial division performs renovations and additions to manufacturing facilities, often under very strict deadlines and quality standards. This work force self-performs architectural, civil, and mechanical aspects of the projects.
EMPLOYEES Charles A. Lewis, Sr. retired in 1992. Today, the management team consists of Tony B. Lewis, President, who oversees administrative and estimating functions, and Charles Lewis Jr. who manages the commercial projects. Danny Moore oversees the industrial division, which includes 35-75 craftspersons and an administrative staff of six. The commercial division employs an office staff of twelve and a workforce of approximately 50. LOCATIONS
SAFETY Since it's inception, the company's commitment to excellence has resulted in an outstanding safety record. Employees have received numerous safety awards from the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and the N.C. Department of Labor. In 1999, the company was ranked second in the nation by the AGC among building contractors working 75,000 - 225,000 man-hours annually. The company's current workman's compensation experience modification rating is .81. PHILOSOPHY C. A. Lewis began the company with a philosophy of listening to his clients, and then delivering services on a timetable and in a manner they needed. The philosophy of "Client First" quickly earned the new company a reputation for being able to perform difficult renovations while maintaining the client's operations. This tradition continued as the firm expanded into other areas. The industrial division is sought out to perform difficult projects with absolute schedules and tough quality controls and tolerances. The commercial division developed a team-based program to work with clients start-to-finish, offering a unique approach that minimizes risk for the entire team. The company seeks innovative solutions to everyday challenges. The management team continually works with employees to find and implement new and better ways to serve clients. An extremely low employee turnover rate helps to assure clients that qualified persons, well versed in the C. A. Lewis, Inc. approach, are working on their project. An exceptional safety record gives further evidence of this commitment to excellence. As a result of the "complete services" philosophy, over 90% of the firm's projects are performed under either a design-build or team-build approach. |
